Do cinema de Sergei Eisenstein aos rituais guaranis
EXTATIC ASSEMBLY: from sergei einseinstein cinema to guaraní rituals

In this research it is expected to entail elements of the Guarani
culture with some concepts taken from Sergei Eisenstein’s drawings,
books and films. The main idea of the concepts worked by the
filmmaker is the "ecstatic montage".
It is intended to think of the "effectiveness" of this montage
and the repetition of the nhandereko [guarani-custom] as a montage
exercise, of which "effectiveness" depends on the repetition of the
practices that were left by Nhanderu to the Guarani.
It is aimed to create image and textual approaches between: the wedding ceremony in the opy [Guarani’s prayer house] and the marriage in Eisenstein’s
film Ivan, the Terrible; the Guarani’s sacred fire during the healing
done by the Karaí [spiritual leader] and the connection of fire with
cinema as it is understood by Eisenstein; the word djaguydje and the search for Guarani’s Yvy Mara'eỹ [imperishable land], with the life-
giving force, rejuvenating source of eternity in Eisenstein’s ecstasy;
the paradisiacal imaginary that surrounds the uterine conception
present in the film Ivan the Terrible and the Guarani’s ceremony of
opydjeré, also known as temascal.
Nesta pesquisa espera-se confluir elementos da cultura
Guarani com alguns conceitos extraídos dos desenhos, livros e filmes de Sergei Eisenstein. O vórtice aglutinador dos conceitos trabalhados pelo cineasta é a "montagem extática".
Pretende-se pensar a"efetividade" dessa montagem e a repetição do nhandereko [costume-
guarani] como um exercício de montagem, cuja "efetividade"
depende da repetição das práticas que foram deixadas por Nhanderu
aos Guarani.
Almeja-se criar aproximações imagéticas e textuais
entre: a cerimônia de casamento na opy [casa de reza guarani] e o
casamento no filme Ivan, o Terrível de Eisenstein; o fogo sagrado guarani durante a cura feita pelo karaí [líder espiritual] e a relação do fogo com o cinema tal como concebida por Eisenstein; a palavra djaguydje e a busca por Yvy Mara’eỹ [terra imperecível] dos Guarani com a força vivificante, fonte rejuvenescedora de eternidade no êxtase de Eisenstein; o imaginário paradisíaco que ronda a concepção uterina presente no filme Ivan o Terrível e a cerimônia da opydjeré Guarani, também conhecida como temascal.
RAFAEL NUNES COELHO
Rafael Coelho is the father of two children; graduated in cinema at UFSC (2010-15);
Master in Literature at UFSC (2016-19), in his master's work entitled “THE EXACT ASSEMBLY: from Sergei Eisenstein's cinema to the Guarani rituals” he researched the various manifestations of “ecstasy” that cross the arts in different times and spaces, focusing on mainly in the Russian filmmaker SM Eisenstein and in the Guarani culture cosmology. He was editor of the movie magazine “Punctum” (2016-19).
Curator of the “Lamat” film festival that will take place during the “Lamat Festival” in the Chapada dos Veadeiros region in April 2020. He began his contact with the Guarani in February 2013, worked on the project “Indigenous Knowledge in Schools” (2017) filming meetings between elders and teachers from 12 Guarani villages in the state of SC, producing new materials for use in village schools.
He is currently Director, editor and screenwriter in the film “Nhe'engarai Marã e'y - the alarm clock of the sacred spirit” (2019), awarded by the Santa Catarina Cinema Award (2018). The film addresses the spiritual work, especially healing, by Alcindo Wherá Tupã, the 109-year-old spiritual leader of the Guarani culture.
